Call For 2008 AFP Foundation Board Nominations

Dear Friends of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy:

As chair of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy's Committee on Directorship, I invite your help in securing strong and effective leadership by participating in the foundation's board nominating process. By nominating capable and proven leaders, you can make an important contribution to the foundation's future success.

The foundation will be selecting a chair-elect, vice chair for development and secretary/treasurer (all one-year terms), along with five directors (three-year terms). These terms will begin Jan. 1, 2008

Nominations can be found in the Attachments section below, and self-nominations are accepted. When you nominate yourself or someone else, please indicate the position (chair-elect, officer, director).

Candidates for Chair-Elect

Candidates nominated for chair-elect will be required to answer a uniform set of questions. As candidates are nominated, the questionnaire will be sent to them directly. Each candidate's answers will be submitted to the Committee on Directorship for its review and consideration. When nominating a candidate for chair-elect, it is important that you inform the candidate of this requirement.

Nomination forms for chair-elect are due by July 13, 2007, and should be submitted to AFP international headquarters, attention Rebecca Knight.

The deadline for submitting officer and director nominations is July 31, 2007. Nominations should be submitted to AFP international headquarters, attention Rebecca Knight, by faxing (703) 836-5624 or by emailing rknight@afpnet.org.

Thank you in advance for taking an active role in the nomination process. Committee members will be calling foundation board members to solicit nominations and talk through candidates. This is in direct response to the survey information the Committee on Directorship received from foundation board members at the end of last year, which indicated they wanted more involvement in choosing board members and leaders.

I look forward to hearing from you. This is an opportunity to make your voice heard.

Sincerely,

Don W. Taylor, CFRE, Chair
