The Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation is a registered environmental charity working to help protect and conserve the lands and waters of the Rideau River valley in Eastern Ontario. The Conservation Foundation builds partnerships and seeks new individuals, corporations and groups wanting to get involved in the vital work of taking care of our own natural environment.
The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority is the lead inter-municipal agency working to address river-related environmental issues and concerns within the Rideau Valley watershed. Thanks to our many partners, the scope of our environmental protection work includes planning, regulation of development, source water protection, tackling flooding and erosion problems and researching water movement and use in the valley. We help people maintain healthy shorelines, provide advice on development-related issues and report to municipalities, agencies and the public about watershed conditions and trends. We also provide public access to natural waterfront areas, deliver community-based stewardship and education programs, reduce water pollution and protect fish and wildlife habitat.
The Executive Director co-ordinates and manages all fundraising and grantmaking activities on behalf of the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority. They lead the Foundation Board of Directors in strategic planning activities and establishing short and long-term objectives. They manage the budget and financial obligations and develop and implement policies, practices and guidelines. They develop and maintain strong relationships within the fundraising community and create marketing materials and social media and advertising campaigns.
