Dear Chamberlain Scholarship Committee,

I have just returned from the 2009 AFP International Conference and am excited to put my learnings into practice.  Thank you for the honour of participating in this unparalleled education opportunity as Ottawa’s 2009 Chamberlain Scholar.

From the first moments of the conference I felt it would be an amazing experience – and I was not disappointed.  My fellow participants were engaged and engaging, and the speakers provided insightful and inspiring presentations.  I valued the chance to speak with fundraisers from places near and far.  We shared experiences and felt encouraged to strive for greater success, which is especially meaningful in today’s trying economy.

The knowledge I gained is being put straight to work in our local community.  I am now better equipped to guide the 11 member museums of the Ottawa Museum Network to attain long-term fundraising goals.  In particular, the sessions pertaining to emerging trends in donor relations, monthly giving programs and giving circles will inform my future work. 

I am very grateful for the Chamberlain Scholarship and this wonderful conference experience.  Thank you.
