Taking Your Small Shop to the Next Level: Grow or Wither Away? The Choice is Yours
Boyd McBride CFRE – In our no-growth economy there are still ways to raise more funds for our agencies’ programs - even as we manage our Board’s and management’s expectations. Over the last seven years SOS Children's Villages Canada has achieved 25% per year average growth, and is planning for more. What has made this possible? Tighter focus? Use of celebrity? The web & new media? PR work? Major gifts success? Monthly giving options? A culture of accountability? This session, hosted by SOS Canada’s CEO, will lift the veil and help you sort out what can help take your own shop to the next level. Fundraising is tough work in a small shop. Decide now to grow not wither. This workshop will help you chart the way.

And, we might be fortunate enough to have colleagues who choose to work in our organizations not because they have to, but because they want to. Over the past 17 years, John Ouellette, CFRE, has helped raise millions of dollars for social service organizations, education and health care in our community. John will share his insight and experience on how to combine teamwork and passion to forge strong relationships with major gift donors and volunteers… to build long-term fundraising success.

Once upon a time... (The power of a good story)
Leah Eustace, CFRE - Human beings are both emotional and social animals. We connect and communicate with each other by sharing stories. Whether it’s books or movies – emails or text messages – we tell stories to share our human experience. Fundraising is no different. Great fundraisers know how to tell great stories. Whether direct mail copy or newsletter content, web material or a conversation with a major donor, our donors respond best when they hear compelling and moving stories about your cause and your organization. This innovative and original session will touch on the psychology of giving, and show participants how to find and collect great stories, create a story inventory and create a storytelling culture within their organization.
