The Perley Rideau is an historic and thriving Ottawa institution that delivers top-quality care in a personalized and compassionate manner. Established in 1897, today it is home to 250 Canadian war veterans and 200 seniors. The Perley Rideau has long been at the forefront of seniors’ care and housing, and also provides respite and convalescent care. In addition, the Perley Rideau’s two apartment buildings accommodate up to 225 independent seniors; other independent and assisted-living options are available in the surrounding community. The Perley Rideau is the largest seniors-care campus in Ottawa and one of the largest in Canada. The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Health Centre and is seeking a motivated and team-oriented individual for the full-time position of:
Development Officer, Major Gifts
Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Officer, MG will develop and implement a Major Gifts strategy to secure gifts for identified and approved major capital needs of the Health Centre, as well as unrestricted gifts to build Foundation capacity. The Development Officer, MG will have direct involvement in major gift solicitation of gifts of $10K and more. Leads the research function, manages the prospect pipeline and activity tracking for the Foundation. The Development Officer, MG will participate in all aspects of the major gift cycle. Works closely with the Major Gifts Committee, member recruitment, training, coaching and prospect strategy counsel.
The successful candidate will have a University degree or community college diploma in a related field or equivalent background in fundraising; Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) accreditation, preferred; minimum 5 years’ experience in major gift fundraising with a track record of success in securing 5 to 6 figure gifts; thorough working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software: data inputting, data mining, including relationships, actions, notes, proposals, and prospecting; demonstrated prospect identification, research, and proposal writing experience: Corporations, Foundations and Individuals; excellent communication skills, written and verbal; public speaking skills; bilingual (English/French) preferred. Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends as required.
