Coordinator: Direct Response Fundraising (Full time opportunity)

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly  
Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible 

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy of the OHS development database, donations and receipts;
  • Prepare written receipts and acknowledgements;
  • Provide assistance to donors as required;
  • Prepare and distribute donor premiums;
  • Maintain and analyze data;
  • Prepare membership mailings;
  • Research fundraising opportunities;
  • Assist with OHS events, as required;
  • Support OHS membership, memorial, and direct response programs;
  • Support OHS donor recognition;
  • Train and supervise development department volunteers;
  • Be aware of and make use of community resources.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Represent the OHS in a professional manner;
  • Serve as the development department liaison with the finance department regarding annual, monthly, and membership gifts;
  • Be thoroughly familiar with pertinent legislation, regulations, guidelines, and OHS policies;
  • Participate in supervision, evaluation and training sessions;
  • Maintain the facility and equipment;
  • Prepare accurate expense accounts and other forms;
  • Produce written reports and records;
  • Ensure approved OHS style guidelines are followed;
  • Network with supporters and sponsors;
  • Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required;
  • Provide training and orientation to new staff and volunteers as required;
  • Be familiar and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures;
  • May be required to assist in the hiring of staff;
  • May be required to train and supervise student, volunteer and work placements.

Program Development:

  • Assist in the development of the OHS direct response programs;
  • Participate in appropriate OHS committees;
  • Participate in public relations and promotional activities;
  • Contribute to ongoing evaluation of program objectives;
  • Participate in the identification and achievement of OHS objectives.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 graduation diploma
  • 1 – 2 years relevant computer experience and/or education
  • 1 – 2 years experience using Raiser's Edge on a regular basis including demonstrated experience with batching, reporting (exports based on segmented queries) and data pulls
  • 1 – 2  years experience with volunteers
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Bilingual (English/French) preferred
  • Financial aptitude

 Essential duties and working conditions:

  • The employee will be required to work evenings and weekend periodically
  • Employment is conditional upon maintaining a valid driver’s license
  • Employment is conditional upon the ability to work around all species of animals safely
  • Employment is conditional upon maintaining confidentiality of OHS information
