As the Community Engagement Specialist you will be expected to help recruit, cultivate and steward relationships with new and existing volunteers, partners, donors, and sponsors throughout the 8 Cystic Fibrosis Canada (CFC) chapters in the Ontario North & East Region. You will provide support to CFC fundraising volunteers and work to identify new potential sponsors, donors and partners. In addition, you will oversee the Shinerama portfolio, assist with regional and third party events, ensure projects are effectively run and timelines are met. In this role you will report directly to the Regional Executive Director who you will provide ongoing administrative support to.  



Qualifications & Skills:


    College or University certification in marketing, fundraising management, volunteer management, special events or equivalent.  

    Experience with volunteers, coordination of special events, and project management.

    Able to build relationships, support and empower people remotely (by phone, email, Skype, etc.)

    Organized with strong attention to detail.

    Ability to multi-task and manage multiple responsibilities with competing and changing priorities

    Capable of assessing and initiating things independently to make sound decisions and judgments.

    Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and creative thinking skills;

    Media relations experience is an asset.

    Knowledgeable in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Raisers Edge, website content management and social media platforms is preferred.





    Recruit, screen and support volunteers for Chapter executives, committees and events throughout the region;

    Recognize outstanding volunteers, partners and donors throughout the year and through our national volunteer awards program;

    Develop and oversee regional speakers bureau program, ensuring proper training and mentorship of volunteer speakers;

    Work with Chapter volunteers and colleagues to develop sponsorship and foundation proposals;

    Liaise with Chapter volunteers and event committees on the development of event communications, marketing materials,  media and photo opportunities;

    Cultivate and steward media partners;

    Support Regional team in identifying areas of growth/opportunity in events and partnerships;

    Shinerama portfolio; support school campaigns and proactively build relationships with new schools;

    Provide support to Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History committees;

    Represent CFC at various meetings and fundraising events as needed (will require some evening and weekend availability);

    Maintain content of regional website and social media sites;

    Provide guidance to Chapter volunteers and employees to ensure compliance with organizational branding guidelines and, publicity and promotional activities;

    Coordinate revenue processing and expense reconciliation with the National office; and

    Perform such other functions in support of the organization’s work as may be assigned by the Regional Executive Director.
